About Alan Astor

Between the dance music bangers NYC and the hip hop of Hot97 is Alan Astor - Artist, Singer, Remixer, and Producer all in one bearded suit-loving handsome guy. Since moving to Brooklyn, NY in 2002 from his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, Astor has been focused on bringing a bombastic and soulful voice to parties across the globe from Brooklyn to Dubai, and all across North America.

2005 saw the release of his dance/pop record ‘Everything is Possible’, for which he wrote and sang on all 10 tracks including his hit ‘Fantastic Fantasy, toured, and drew acclaim worldwide. In the past few years, Alan has been focusing more on doing remixes of Top40 music and compiling it into his concept mixtape series ASTOR106. On the mixes, which are meant to sound like commercial pop radio with more bass and fouler language, Alan plays both DJ and artist, expressing both his undeniable love of popular music and his ambivalence for the ties between corporations, advertising, and music.

In the process of creating his ASTOR106 mixes, Alan has produced remixes with Drop the Lime, Hercules and Love Affair drummer GL, went to #1 on HypeMachine for his Chris Brown/T-Pain ‘Kiss Kiss’ remix, was featured on many of dance music’s biggest blogs, and had exclusive tracks released on RCRDLBL. His remixes continue to whiz around the globe as fast as he produces them, making it into the mixes and sets of DJs from Chicago to Sweden to Berlin. Though he has released over 20 hip hop and pop radio remixes digitally, he is perhaps best known for his remix of Lil Wayne’s ‘Got Money’ which has received over 100,000 plays on MySpace.

Recently, Alan went full circle and started making all original dance pop again. His single “I’m Burning Up”, recorded with Philadelphia’s Virginia Yum Yum providing vocals, is out on the Brooklyn/Miami label DJs Are Not Rockstars this Winter.
